Our Ambatchdotcom Seocontest Entry is Rockin!

Wow!

It has been a few months since I have used this blog!

I had wordpress installed at the office which is just more convenient for me, so blogger has been almost (but not quite) forgotten!

You can check out our new blog at:

http://blog.1shoppingcart.com

The other piece of news that I have today, is that we have joined an SEO contest! We are going to be designing a site to rank highly in the Google SERP for the keyword 'ambatchdotcom seocontest'! That is the 2006 SEO World Championship keyterm!

we have been in the race for 4 days now and are doing pretty well! Our Debut was position 144 and we climbed to position 23 within 24 hours!

I think our site is currently sitting around position 27, but we will climb still... I made a small mistake with the creation of our directory structure, which hurt us a little... what can you do!

I will try and keep this blog up to date on how we are doing... and we will be holding a contest soon too! we are going to take three merchants and overhaul their SEO efforts for them! take them along for our ride so to speak!

so if you need a little (or a lot) of help placing in the search engines... you are definately going to want to stay tuned and check back later!

You can see our ambatchdotcom seocontest entry site here...

Goodbye for now!

It is Good News/Bad News with Google Sometimes...

Weird...

Google has picked up on all of our Shopping Cart links around the Internet and given us a first page ranking based on them.

There are hundreds of thousands of these links on tens of thousands of websites, each a little different (different variables depending on merchant and product being purchased etc.)

The problem is that this link is Old School and is a long undecipherable asp string with question marks and other symbols and Google, being the good net-samaritan that it is, refuses to read beyond the first ?

So the result is a wonderful error page sitting on the first SERP under strategic keywords.

Well... It has taken some swift footwork and no end of caffinee but our team of crack developers have come up with the solution and fixed the error page to send traffic back to our homesite!

check it out:

Click here to go to our Shopping Cart Website!

The page that you actual are going to is :

http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/error.asp?

but that is now shifting traffic back to our main site!

Hopefully that will appease the Google Gods.

Next project... update those links so they are more people and search engine friendly. Maybe run them through a filter so they are formatted in a directory format... we will see...

Time to burn a little more midnight oil!

Great News for People Interested in Online Marketing and eCommerce

It is almost completely official!

1ShoppingCart is getting ready to launch an official blog!

I promise that I will write in it more frequently that I write in this one :)

It will be powered by WordPress and is currently getting a few template tweeks before it is released.

In true Google fashion, I figure I will release our new Blog in Beta mode under the working title 'The Shop Stop' or just 'Shop Stop' or maybe even 'The 1 Shop Stop' - isn't beta great?

We will be discussing eCommerce and Marketing, and it is not intended to try and 'Sell' you on our eCommerce software - although I am sure we will be talking about it (how could we not :)

Okay, that's it for today, I am going to go work on the new and slightly more official blog - Shop Stop (or was that 1ShopStop?)

Are You Using Automatic Responders?

We made an interesting observation this week!

How many of you know what an Autoresponder is? How about an Automatic Responder?

I had never heard of the term Automatic Responders before last week, but it turns out that more people are searching on that term than on Autoresponders!

Just goes to show you that it is possible to stand too close to the light sometimes.

Don't know what either of these terms mean? Then you should definitely check out our Automatic Responder Info page (click here!)

Or, check out WikiPedia's definition here!

We have always known that an Autoresponder was a term that was only familiar with more ecommerce savvy people and have tried to help educate the rest of Internet Public over the years. It seems that the message has been getting through, and being diluted in the process!

So be it!

Automatic Responders is absolutely correct, and if that is what you are using to find us, we will use the term on our site to try and not confuse you :)

Your Images Hosted Securely!

You can now host images on the secure servers within your shopping cart account!

If you have ever tried to add an image to the top of your shopping cart page, you may have run into a problem with your browser warning you that there are ‘unsecure’ elements on the page.

While this does not affect the information or security of the page in any way, it is not exactly a message that will give your clients a warm-fuzzy feeling. The message is simply being triggered by the browser as a warning to let you know there is one thing on the page (that image you just added) that is being hosted on an unsecure server.

We have now taken steps to help you further customize your shopping cart page with images, by allowing up to 5 megs of image upload space within every account!

From the main menu of your account, click:

Cart Setup >> Secure Image Area

From this page you can easily browse for, and import up to 5 megs of images. When you do, our system will automatically generate a unique html link you can use to reference that image on our secure server’s; just copy the provided link and paste it wherever you would like the image to appear on your order form!
